VANITY OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES

By Min. Thomas J. Allen, Tuesday May, 28 2013

This is more false teaching that seems to be gripping the scene as did Paul have issues with this in his time... Today many try to say that "ye are not saved unless you speak in unknown tongues that this is the evidence." But the glorious bible says otherwise as Jesus Christ whom died on the cross is the final evidence of salvation. Paul declares,

1 Cor. 14:4-5, "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying."
1 Cor. 12:30, "Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?"
1 Cor. 14:6, "Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?"
1 Cor. 14:13, "Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret."
1 Cor. 14:19, "Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue."
1 Cor. 14:26-28, "How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God."
1 Tim. 2:16, "But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness."
1 Tim. 6:20, "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called."
Matt. 12:31, "Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."
Eccl. 1:2, "Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity."

What was the real meaning of speaking in tongues?

Speaking in tongues was meant to preach the word to those of other languages so people could hear the word of God in their own tongue, not vain babbling's which none can interpret...

Acts 2:3-11, "And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God."
1 Cor. 12:28, "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."
2 Pet. 1:20-21, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

A Final Warning to Babylon and Her Daughters

For those who are in Babylon and her Daughters which follow her laws, doctrines, and commandments, the Lord God of Israel has a message for you...

Rev. 18:4, "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."
2 Pet. 2:1, "But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction."
1 Tim. 4:2-4, "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."
2 Cor. 11:3, "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."
2 Tim. 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Isa. 8:20, "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."
1 John 2:4, "He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."
Prov. 28:9, "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination."
Acts 5:32, "And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him."

In sharp contrast to false doctrine, the Bible is upfront and brutally honest, which is why so many people are greatly offended by the Bible. God said what He meant and meant what He said. Jesus said, "If it were not so, I would have told you" - John 14:2.

Gal. 1:8, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."
Titus 2:1, "But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine."

May God Bless you, your family, and keep you all safe from the coming storm.
You are all in my prayers daily.
